Disclaimer: This film was made in 2011 and the post itself was written long ago. I’m republishing this just as another attempt to make my short film reach more people.

In what can probably be termed as a moment of insane uncertainty or uncertain insanity I embarked on the mission of making a short film. I have to admit that the idea has never crossed my mind, for the obvious reason that I’m no good at it. I used to write stories and when some of my friends liked them, we went ahead to adapt them to films in youtube, but Onsite, marriages and job opportunities have separated my team. But thankfully, the bug has not gone and for one week I wanted to keep aside my doubts and start making something out of a long weekend. I did not set myself any timelines within which, I had to work because, I failed on my attempts earlier and I did not want to repeat this.

It all started when I visited my cousin in Texas two weeks ago. It still feels strange to come to terms to the fact that what started as a casual visit ended up with this. My cousin called me the day I was about to travel and told me that he bought a new camera which has some really cool features. So I thought of putting it to some good use. I did not have any story ready to be worked on or whatever I had was more than what I thought I would be capable to pull off. So, I wanted to write a really small line which might take not more than a minute duration. Also, I did not want to do anything which might require something that will not be within reach, so I decided on working with what all we have at our disposal at my brother’s place.

Among the other things he had, I zeroed upon three things on which I can base my story line on. They are his car, apartment and I Phone. I tried writing some thriller stuff on his car, but whatever I thought required some superior editing and directorial capabilities to pull off and I was definitely short on those. And, I wanted to do this all on my own, since I was pretty embarrassed and disappointed last time, when I was unable to finish something which we started as a group. Then, I thought of this story which would require nothing but his I Phone. I liked the idea and wrote it in final draft on the night.

My cousin suggested some changes to the one I wrote and asked me to extend it, but I was not even sure I could finish this, so we went ahead with this. We started and finished the shoot on the second day, since we dedicated the first day to the greater cause of scotch and soda. After a lot of cinematic rules broken by me with my ignorance and negligence, a sound track lifted from Guy Ritchie’s revolver, a messy editing work done on final cut pro, the whole thing looks like this.

PS:The film is in Telugu, so view it with subtitles
