It strikes me as ironic that an anti capitalist movement like Occupy Wall Street had to find its zenith in U.S.A of all the places in the world, but that clearly is an indication of growing displeasure and vexation against the financial greed and corruption indulged by the corporate and capitalism in general. Equally sad is the fact that this movement is not trending world wide with the gusto that it needs to be, for this to have any impact.
The movement which reportedly or notoriously started of with a twitter hash tag is continuing the occupations in almost 82 countries mainly with placards and slogans, most importantly without any ostensible demands. The presence of a demand, in my opinion might make the whole movement lose its impact as the people in power can buy out that demand for you with a readily acceptable and accommodating grin. The absence of a demand signifies the growing disapproval and annoyance of the “99%” people against the ways they are willing to be run by the governments over the world which are getting increasingly aligned towards the ambitions of “1% of people who are writing the rules of the global economy”.
Though some organizations were credited with the start of this movement, clearly there is no messiah in absolute charge of this contrary to the recent Anna Hazare’s movement in India. Everyone who participated in the occupations felt the need to do so without any obvious provocations (unless “they” conjure up some conspiracy theories), something which can or cannot be said of the Lok Pal movement in India. While, the people we are fighting against now are less ferocious when we compare them to the dictators of the nineteenth century, they are far more dangerous in being ambitiously competitive.
By choosing to carry this movement forward in Wall Street, a powerful statement has been made which should have a reverberating impact, but a change of this magnitude cannot occur on a few incidents of high shock value. Sustained faith and a passionate belief in the movement only can carry forward the initial blow, but for all the practical purposes, Occupy Wall Street is a significant step in the right direction, more importantly at the precise point of time.

Veturi's books
Much like the term “Amreekan Desi” cannot be applicable to the entire Indian Student Population in the U.S, Atulya Mahajan’s eponymous book can’t be expected to speak about all of them. At best it is a dry, often matter of fact, recollec...
